The 6 Hottest Tracks of December

December is such a wonderful time of the year, especially for music. This is the time where 50,000 people release christmas albums, but 2016 is a special one. We have new releases from (unexpectedly) Chance the Rapper, Bruno Mars, J. Cole, the return of Childish Gambino, and more! Without further ado, here are the top five songs of December 2016.

1. Joy - Jeremih & Chance

No one was expecting this. Jeremih and Chance the Rapper teamed up to drop this Christmas mixtape FOR FREE! Well I guess this can’t be a list of top tracks of December without a little bit of Christmas spirit. This whole playlist is a little different than the normal Christmas albums as it puts a twist by talking about a more realistic Christmas. This song talks about how we should get rid of hate and bring back joy and happiness because “Christmas is a time for joy.”

2. Versace on The Floor - Bruno Mars

Bruno Mars comes up with yet another classic with his new hit Versace on the Floor. The song lyrics depict a very intimate scene as Bruno Mars uses synths and a slow beat to give an 80's styled appeal. The first time I listened to this song, I was shocked that 99.5 wasn't on Throwback Thursday as I really thought that this song was made by Spandau Ballet or some other 80's band.

3. Redbone - Childish Gambino

I could literally talk about this one song and how good it is for hours but since neither of us have the time, I can only say the most essential parts of it. First, you get hit by that funky beat before being serenaded by Childish Gambino’s falsetto. The rest of the song is just fun and funk mashed together into one masterpiece. After the song ends, you still have to minutes of sheer beauty to decide that you’re gonna listen to this song on repeat for six hours straight. If you don’t like this song, I don’t know why you listen to music.

4. I Feel It Coming - The Weeknd

For all you Michael Jackson fans out there here's a track with of the King of Pop’s greatness. Seriously, intentionally or unintentionally The Weeknd actually sounds like MJ himself. There is a good mixture of Pop and alternative R&B. The song is catchy to dance to while at the same time, it’s pretty chill jam for a hangout with a group of friends.

5. Neighbors - J. Cole

J. Cole wasn’t born in the hood like other rappers (ie. Kendrick Lamar and Eminem) but that doesn’t eliminate him from racial discrimination and him being judged because of his profession and that is what this song is about. The hook is “the neighbors think I’m sellin dope.” Cole raps about the stereotype that is applied to him and other African-Americans in the USA.

J. Cole rapping some real shit + a hot sample = 🔥🔥🔥

6. Deja Vu - Post Malone ft. Justin Bieber

There are those songs that by the first beat you already get the sensation that it will be amazing. The One Dance beat meeting Justin Bieber creates the perfect song for any kind of chill session. Post Malone has really shown that he is talented artist with this new album. If you like Drake, Chance the Rapper or even Justin Bieber this is the song that you should be playing.
