Christmas is around the corner again which means that the endless stress of searching and shopping for gifts is back. Personally, I find it to be such a hassle to go through an eternity of traffic only to arrive at the mall with literally no gift in mind. Then you’ll end up buying some boring gift that your friend will probably throw away. Because sometimes, you really don't know what he/she wants! If you’re in some sort of Secret Santa or just wanna give good friend or secret crush a special something, here’s a list of the BEST gifts for each type of person.
The Athlete
Guys: Some of the best gifts for athletes includes jerseys, jackets, shirts, socks, and balls. Of course, it’s really important to know what sport they actually play. Getting them something with their favorite player or team will make them appreciate the gift even more. Some stores to check out include Nike, Adidas, and Under Armour.
Girls: This is a bit easier since girls are fond of tank tops, spandex, and socks when it comes to athletic attire. Headbands and hair ties in bulk will also be appreciated to get that hair out of the way for them to make that winning play! Again, some stores to check out include Nike, Adidas, and Under Armour.
The beauty Guru
This year, the beauty world is all about skincare and palettes! This Christmas season, get your favorite make-up addict eyeshadow that she can use all year round and post on Instagram to show off to all her friends! For the girl with perfect skin and a glow from within, face masks or moisturizers are the perfect Christmas set for the colder months. Check out Sephora and your neighborhood skincare shops for a variety of options.
the GEEK
Guys: You can never go wrong with classic Star Wars or Marvel Graphic T-Shirts. If you’re looking for something bigger, try action figures, posters or comic books. Fully Booked and UNIQLO are perfect places to get most of these.
Girls: All geeky girls love a good book. They’re also very affordable and easily found. Check out Fully Booked or National Bookstore for a wide selection of the newest releases. Some examples could include “The Red Queen” by Victoria Aveyard”, “13 Reasons Why” by Jay Asher, “Probability of Miracles” by Wendy Wunder and “The Beginning of Everything” by Schneider.
THE ARTSY/STRAIGHT A
If there’s one thing I learned from going to a high school with girls, it’s that they love MUJI. The possibilities are endless when it comes to getting gifts for studious girls. These include colored pens, mechanical pencils, pencil cases, and notebooks. The best part: they’ll love it because it’s all about the aesthetics.
THE HIPSTER
Hipsters love typewriters, vintage cameras and anything old basically. Some good suggestions can include Vinyl Records or Lomography Cameras. Think they're too hard to find? Try going to TeamManilaLifestyle, Complex Lifestyle Store or The Penthouse for some real throwback gifts.
THE Gamer
It’s almost impossible to go wrong when buying gifts for gamers. It’s pretty obvious you’d either buy them equipment for their setup including a mouse, keyboard, and monitor (Find out their console first) or just check out Datablitz for brand new games like Civilization 6, Final Fantasy XV, Watch Dogs 2, Overwatch, Dishonoured 2 and Battlefield 1!
THE Hypebeast
2016 was all about street style. Your budget won’t allow you to buy your friend a pair of Yeezys this Christmas (we know you don’t like your friend that much), but you still want to get them something that will suit their unique style. If you’re budget-shopping for a hypebeast, try to get them a classic top - check out Thrasher or BAPE for more affordable, relatively easy-to-find shirts and hoodies, or take the high road and hunt for a Vetements cap or socks. If you’re shopping for a female hypebeast friend (read: hypebae), then you can’t go wrong with an oversized hoodie.
The Techie
Everyone knows that techies love accessories. They’ve got compartments full of expensive gadgets and gizmos and we’re not ashamed at all that we have no idea what it does. Despite its simplicity, new phone cases, earphones or an electronic grid organizer might just do the trick! Bose is good for high quality earphones, while these convenient gartered compartments and can be found on OLX for reasonable prices.
